ARROWED
by Dalit Nemirovsky | 12.11.13In one week, you’ll have a one off chance to get a glimpse into the ongoing work of dance Bobbi Jene Smith. Arrowed is a Theatrical lyric performance, an ongoing interview that was initially started in 2010 and first performed in 2012. It is composed of a series of interviews written, choreographed, and directed by Bobbi Jene Smith and is meant to be carried out and performed by various individuals. The dance takes place sporadically in different places, in different times, with different people, with the only constant being the initial script written in interview form.
Due to the versatile nature of this process, this piece is a continuous research, with each performance being different and influenced by the context in which it takes place. Parts of the text are eliminated, added on and eliminated again, forcing the interview, the piece, to be ever changing. The forms in which it is presented and documented varies as well – performance, film, books and other media.
This piece is meant to take place non-systematically for the rest of Bobbi’s life and document the process of interaction, conversation, and aging, like the image of two arrows colliding over time.
