ORLY MONTAG | RAISING A HOUSE
by Dalit Nemirovsky | 09.12.12Orly Montag’s first solo exhibition Raising a House, is now showing at the Artstation Gallery.
Yearning for a house, both a materialistic and a conceptual one is in the heart of the exhibition, which showcases a spectacular and precise installation, using unique sculptural techniques such as porcelain, aerated concrete bricks and terracotta. Montag examines one of the most charged concepts in the Israeli and Jewish heritage, and deals with past memories, current needs and a desire for a future.
In her first solo exhibition, Montag developed her monumental work “Made of China” which was part of her graduate exhibition at the Bezalel Academy of Arts three years ago. Montag takes her unique esthetics to new levels of delicacy and fragility on the one hand, and a powerful contemporary statement on the other hand.
